What to Expect on Your PADI Open Water Diver Course in Amed
If you’re joining us for a PADI Open Water Diver course in Amed, here’s how your three days of diving will unfold—relaxed, well-organised, and focused on learning safely while fully enjoying the experience.
Theory – PADI eLearning
Theory – PADI eLearning
Before arriving in Amed, you can choose to receive access to PADI eLearning so that you can complete the theory part at home on your laptop or phone. If you decide to start spontaneously while in Bali, don’t worry—you can study after diving at the beach, by the pool, or back at your accommodation. We highly recommend finishing the theory before the course starts so that once we meet, we can focus entirely on diving and exploring Bali’s underwater world.
Day 1 – Confined Water Training
Day 1 – Confined Water Training
We start the day with a hotel pickup between 7:30 and 7:50 am, or you can meet us at the dive shop around 8:00 am if you’re nearby. After fitting your equipment and enjoying a coffee or tea, we head to the beach for confined water training. Here, you’ll learn to assemble and disassemble your gear and practice essential skills in calm, shallow water. Training is split into two relaxed sessions, with a break and snacks in between, to ensure a comfortable, stress-free experience.
After the dives, we’ll return to the dive centre, where you can shower and change before joining us for lunch in the dive centre. Afterwards, you can relax at Warung Mewali, our family’s beachside warung, enjoy a sweet dessert, or simply soak up the sun on the beach before heading back to your hotel.
Days 2 & 3 – Open Water Dives
Days 2 & 3 – Open Water Dives
On day two, everything feels easier—you know your equipment and basic skills, and now it’s time to explore the reef. Each day includes two open water dives, where you’ll put your training into practice in Bali’s vibrant waters. We usually aim to finish the last two dives of the course at the famous USAT Liberty shipwreck, one of Amed’s most iconic dive sites, making your final dives truly unforgettable.
