Muck Dive
Sites
Explore the weird and wonderful world of macro life in Bali's volcanic black sand.
Small life, big adventures
Bali is a world-class destination for muck diving, particularly the east coast where the volcanic black sand provides a unique habitat for some of the ocean's strangest and rarest inhabitants. Unlike the vibrant coral reefs, muck diving is about slow, focused exploration.
In sites like Seraya Secrets and Melasti, we find incredible predators and masters of disguise — from flamboyant cuttlefish and blue-ringed octopuses to hairy frogfish and countless species of colorful nudibranchs. It's a dream for macro photographers and anyone who appreciates the intricate beauty of marine life.

Amed Muck Diving

Melasti Amed
Melasti in Amed is a hidden gem for muck divers and anyone fascinated by macro life. The dive begins shallow at around 2 meters over soft sandy slopes and small coral clusters, perfect for spotting pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, ghost pipefish, and mantis shrimps. The gentle slope extends to about 20 meters, making it accessible for diving at all levels and a favourite for Amedand macro diving in Bali.
The site is alive with surprises at every turn. Frogfish camouflage among the sand, scorpionfish and juvenile ghost pipefish hide in small crevices, and colourful shrimps and crabs can be found in every nook. Calm conditions and clear visibility allow divers to linger and explore at their own pace, making it a top choice for scuba diving in Bali and for reef diving in Bali, especially for enthusiasts looking for something different.
