Tulamben
Home to the world-famous USAT Liberty Wreck and stunning coral drop-offs.
Beyond the Liberty wreck
Tulamben is just a short drive from Amed and holds a special place in my heart. It’s home to the iconic USAT Liberty Shipwreck, a dive that’s perfect for divers of all levels—whether you’re a beginner or an experienced diver. But the shipwreck is just the beginning. Beyond the wreck, Tulamben offers sloping reefs, coral gardens, and some incredible drift dives. There are also macro hotspots at sites like Drop Off, Coral Garden, and Sidem—perfect for anyone looking to capture stunning underwater photography or just enjoy the incredible marine life. If you’re looking to combine the thrill of diving a historical wreck with the beauty of rich coral gardens and diverse marine life, Tulamben is the place to be. I’d love to show you around these incredible dive sites.

Tulamben's Best Dive Sites

USAT Liberty
Kadek's FavouriteUSAT Liberty Wreck in Tulamben is one of the most special dive sites in the world—and it’s right in front of my home area. It is one of the very few shipwrecks globally that you can reach directly from shore, only about 30 meters from the beach, and it lies at depths suitable for all dive levels. The shallow part of the wreck starts at around 5 meters, making it even more accessible for snorkelers.
The Liberty lies on its side, parallel to the shoreline, following the natural slope down to about 30 meters. Because of this layout, it’s a perfect first wreck dive. I often finish the last day of Open Water courses here—where else in the world can you complete your certification on a historic shipwreck? Certified Open Water divers can enjoy safe, short penetration routes with an exit always visible.
